Editors:

Olav Schram Stokke is Senior Research Fellow at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI), Norway. His research interest is international political economy, with special emphasis on regime theory applied to regional cooperation and management of natural resources and the environment. He has published extensively in these fields, including the edited volumes Governing High Seas Fisheries (Oxford 2001), Governing the Antarctic (Cambridge 1996), and The Barents Region (Sage 1994).

Oystein B. Thommessen is Editor and Project Manager at the FNI, with particular responsibility for documentation on international agreements and environment and development organizations. He has served as production co-ordinator of this Yearbook and previous editions. He is editor of the Yearbook website and translation co-ordinator of the Chinese edition of the Yearbook.

Chairs, AdvisoryPanel:

Helge Ole Bergesen is Senior Research Fellow at the FNI and has served as editor of previous editions of the Yearbook.

Willy Ostreng is Scientific Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and Professor at the Department of Sociology and Political Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He is also former Director of the FNI.

Yearbook of International Co-operation on Environment and Development is an independent publication from the FNI which specializes in studies of international environmental, resource-management, and energy politics€and the effectiveness of international co-operation in these fields. Within this framework the FNI has developed special competence in a wide range of themes and issues. Its main aim is to identify the interests, institutions, and processes that influence the management of the environment and natural resources from the global to the local level. The Institute was established to commemorate Fridtjof Nansen, famous for his exploration of the Arctic as well as for his role in international relief work and diplomacy.
